Bear in the winter gardens

Good With Devices (GWD), a customer-oriented developer and seller of Donation Stations and Discovery Stations, has secured a £750,000 investment from NPIF – Maven Equity Finance, managed by Maven Capital Partners (Maven) and part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF). Donation Stations allow contactless charitable donations to be generated from the public which is increasingly important as we move away from cash in society.

The investment will support the expansion of the business’ Donation Stations being developed and implemented across charities, arts, heritage and corporate venues which will generate an increased and recurring percentage of donations going through the device. More focus will be put on sales and marketing to generate more leads, especially in the corporate sphere.

Based in Sheffield, GWD has a strong track record of selling Donation and Discovery Stations into the public, quasi-public and private sectors. The team has expertise in smart consumer touchscreens and contactless fundraising systems, and the contactless terminals can be specifically tailored to meet the needs of clients. Donation Stations are highly efficient tools for collecting various types of funds from donators and boosting the returns distributed to charities.

GWD’s service plays an integral role in attracting consumer attention around fundraising methods and strategies. The charitable sector was worth over £11 billion in 2021 and GWD has enabled charities to collect funds from anyone who has access to debit and credit cards or contactless mobile technology. The business continues to exploit other markets, including Arts & Heritage, Corporate and Religious & Faith organisations. Thus, as the wider public begin to shift to a cashless society, the adoption of GWD’s product will become more pervasive across the targeted sectors.

GWD was founded by Marek Narkiewicz and Ben Widdows. Together they have driven the business to its current position, utilizing strong industry contacts and technological expertise to deliver a market leading product and service proposition.

Alex Rothwell, Investment Director at Maven, said “We are delighted to provide funding to GWD as it enters into its important scale-up phase. GWD have market leading products in sectors that are rapidly growing, with great potential to expand the business rapidly. I am excited to be working with Marek and Ben and the rest of the team”

Marek Narkiewicz, Co-Founder and CEO of GWD, said “From the first meeting we were confident that Alex and Maven were the right funding partner for GWD.

“We have a fantastic team and a mission to bring innovative technology to right where it’s needed and Maven immediately saw the value in that. I’m excited to push on with their support and to continue serving our clients.”

The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund project is supported financially by the European Union using funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020 and the European Investment Bank.
